Hi! It's Amy, owner of Furry Paws Care LLC
I recently decided to try out writing blogs on our website.
To start off, I'm not a writer and I'm sure there will be errors. This is just a new fun thing that I want to try! Follow me on this new blog journey!
I'm working on a cute, funny or pun name for the blog page. Suggestions welcomed!
I'm also open to any suggestions on what you'd like to see me write about! So far I have a few ideas, such as - pet safety tips, pet products I like, and pet(s) of the month (submissions from pet owners).
Please comment what you'd like to see me write about.
Maybe in this first blog post, I should introduce myself.
My name is Amy, I'm the owner of Furry Paws Care. Colorado born and raised. In fact, I've lived on the same street my whole life! I currently live in the house next door to the house I grew up in. My parents still live in that house.
I have a pack of my own - dogs, cats, chickens, and a duck!
My life is pretty much revolved around animals.
Growing up I loved animals and still do (obviously). I knew I wanted to work with animals. When I was a little girl I'd play pretend that I was a veterinarian or that I had a doggie daycare. I would also pet sit for neighbors and family members. I kind of ended up doing both!
About a year after high school (2014) while working part time at the local recreation center, I decided to post ads offering dog walking and pet sitting. It really took off! I then decided to quit my part time job and make a small pet care business, which I named Furry Paws Care.
Three years (2017) into professionally dog walking and pet sitting, I decided to take a break and get a job as a veterinarian assistant! I was thrilled to continue working with animals! I was helping them and their owners while learning so much medical knowledge and care for pets. While I was working at the animal hospital my sister, Kara, took over my dog walking and pet sitting clients. I worked at the animal hospital for two years. Being a veterinarian assistant was very rewarding and I loved working at the animal hospital, but it could be hard seeing animals sick, injured and getting old.
In 2019 I decided to go back to full time professional dog walking and pet sitting, taking the animal medical knowledge I learned with me. I added new services to Furry Paws Care. Our services are: dog walking, potty breaks (great for new puppies and senior dogs), pet sitting, cat or small/exotic animal drop-in visits, horse care, pet taxi, dog hiking, house call nail trims, house call anal gland expressions, and house call potty patch shaves. House call nail trims, pawdicures I call them, was a hit! My boyfriend, Tyler, assists me in this service. Tyler does a pawsome job holding, petting, keeping pets calm, and giving them yummy treats while I do the nail trimming. I'm pretty sure the pets think Tyler is the good guy and I'm the bad guy. I quickly make up with the pets by giving them good pets and more yummy treats.
Working at the animal hospital, I learned how to care for pets with medical conditions. I'm able to give pets injections, subcutaneous fluids, administer medications, and be able to notify owners if I notice that a pet is sick, showing signs of an infection or has a wound. Luckily, I don't need to notify pet owners of these concerns very often. When I do, they are grateful and take their pet to their veterinarian to get them examined and treated.
Another perk of having my pet care business is that I also get to care for horses! I get to care for and still help animals - BIG and small, scaley to feathery, to furry giants with hooves. Running a pet care business is fun and rewarding! I love meeting pet owners and their pets! I love getting to work with and care for animals of all sizes, species and breeds. It's fun and interesting to see how all animals have their own personalities!
I'm always thinking of new and fun things to bring to Furry Paws Care! Furry Paws Care is a small local pet care business. Although we're a small business, we're working on growing and adding the best humans to our team to help us take care of all of our furiends.
